Liberty Public Schools is fortunate to have such a supportive, caring community who values education and the opportunities given to our learners. LPS was recognized as a high performing school district for all 12 years when the State of Missouri presented the Distinction in Performance Award, making it one of only 6% of Missouri districts to be placed in this category. Liberty School District has 11 elementary schools, four middle schools, two high schools, an alternative secondary school, and an early childhood center. Students can still enter the building at their normal time. The late start will have no impact on parent’s schedules. According to the magazine, the communities they selected offered, “the best combination of economic opportunity, good schools, safe streets, things to do, and a real sense of community.” Late Start Wednesdays - On Wednesdays, school will start at 8:20am. In years past, CNN/Money Magazine recognized Liberty as one of the Best Places to Live. Growth in our community is planned and managed, from the historic downtown district and older homes on tree-lined streets, to the growing development on the community’s western edge. ![]() Liberty is family-oriented and sees its over 30,000 residents of the community take pride in being neighborly and maintaining a hometown spirit. The district has seen rapid growth over the past 12 years so much, in fact, that it has become one of the fastest growing school districts in the state. Located just northeast of Kansas City, the school district serves more than 12,300 students in preschool through 12 th grade. Liberty Public Schools serves the residents of approximately 85 square miles in Clay County. ![]()
